The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Histology Supervisor with extensive expertise in histological techniques, including proficiency with Leica Bond and Leica Peloris systems. This pivotal role oversees our histology department, ensuring the highest quality of tissue processing and contributing significantly to our diagnostic capabilities. Your experience in immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, CAP and CLIA accreditation processes, and grossing specimens will play a critical role in maintaining our laboratory's compliance and operational excellence.

Key
Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the histology laboratory staff and daily operations, ensuring efficient and precise processing of specimens.
  • Perform and oversee advanced histological procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, immunohistochemistry, and in situ hybridization.
  • Expertly handle gross examination of specimens, ensuring accurate and detailed documentation and preparation for further microscopic analysis.
  • Lead the laboratory's preparation for and navigation through CAP and CLIA inspection processes.
  • Develop, review, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring compliance with current industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Train laboratory personnel in new techniques, SOPs, compliance with regulatory standards, and proper specimen handling during grossing.
  • Collaborate closely with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver timely and precise histological data.
  • Stay updated with technological advancements in histology and cytology, integrating cutting-edge practices into laboratory operations.
  • Uphold stringent laboratory safety protocols to protect staff and patients.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods during laboratory tasks.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for detailed specimen handling, including grossing.
  • Capability to lift and transport laboratory supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity and color perception necessary for accurate sample analysis and gross examination.

Hazards Encountered:

  • Regular exposure to potentially infectious specimens and hazardous chemicals, with strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Operation of complex laboratory machinery that poses inherent risks, necessitating proper training and safety compliance.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Histotechnology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in histology, with extensive skills in immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization.
  • Required certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT).
  • Demonstrated experience managing CAP and CLIA accreditation processes and proficient in writing and updating SOPs.
  • Qualified and experienced in the gross examination of specimens, with a deep understanding of the techniques and standards required.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare providers and laboratory staff.
  • Independent problem-solving ability and proactive approach to adopting new technologies.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
