Review/Approval of MOP's as needed.
What you'll do:
This position requires the ability to travel as needed estimated up to 100% traveling between Nielsen recognized TV DMA's.
Travel is typically in a company provided vehicle.
Ability to work independently in remote locations during assigned maintenance windows as needed.
Most work is accomplished during the dayside maintenance window, but some work may be required in the overnight maintenance window based on the needs of the company.
Perform RF signal surveys to FCC specifications and document the findings, investigate interference issues, provide and implement recommendations for resolution.
Position requires inspection, validation and repair of baseband and SDI audio/video installations and drawings.
Work with group to simplify signal delivery and associated documentation as applicable.
Troubleshoot video and audio impairments related to signal acquisition, have strong knowledge of ATSC signal components and specifications, and various ANSI/SMPTE protocols.
Fabrication and labeling of cables is required.
Installation of system devices as needed and general upkeep of LCF/LRF environment.
Perform field pre-commissioning, commissioning, maintenance of MPEG compression and pre-decommissioning as needed.
Installation of baseband and IP multicast video transmission and multiplexing equipment.
Position will assist in troubleshooting vendor owned connectivity up to and including optical transmission circuits.
Documentation of both works performed and any issues found or remaining is required on a timely basis.
Face to face communications with local TV stations engineering staff on technical issues.
What you'll need:
Bachelors or Associate Degree in an Engineering discipline preferred.
Professional certifications will be considered in lieu of the Technical Degree requirement with a minimum of five (5) years technical experience in a Television Broadcast or Cable System working on digital and analog broadcast & transmission systems, including RF, baseband, fiber, compression, networking, and satellite.
Proficiency in ATSC terrestrial RF systems and their various components, MPEG compression systems, IP multicast knowledge, and Telco fiber systems.
Proficiency in IP delivered Broadcast Quality Video signals and conversion processes.
Proficiency of baseband audio/video, digital audio/video, satellite transmission systems, computer networking systems (Ethernet, Serial, TCP/IP and Video Over IP), electrical power systems (AC/DC) and telco/data co-location protocols are necessary.
Strong oral and written communications and highly developed organizational skills required.
Experience with Microsoft Office to present findings in required reporting systems.
Must have extensive range in lifting/carrying and be able to remove and install technical equipment.
Must have well developed interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as required.
Individual will be asked to provide verification of a valid US driver's license, favorable motor vehicle record.
An annual MVR audit will be pulled.
Must be able to work in a combination daytime and overnight maintenance support capacity with the ability to work outdoors on tall buildings in adverse weather conditions.
Must have a clean driving record and be able to drive up to 8-hours in a single day.
Must have Normal Color Vision (due to working on the above systems and for safety of the Field Engineer).
Requires hand/eye coordination, high manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
