Job Description:
The FIPS 140 Technical Director, in support of the Cryptographic and Security Testing Laboratory (CSTL), is a technical management position that provides technical support to the rest of the CSTL team and our customers.
The Technical Director will also be expected to lead validation teams evaluating and testing cryptographic modules.
What You Will Get to Do:
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
Demonstrate expert FIPS 140 and Cryptography knowledge Act as back-up to the laboratory director and manager, as needed Perform technical quality reviews of final test reports and comments as assigned by the laboratory manager.
Coordinate common themes into Wiki or training Mentoring technical staff Lead the development of technical training Track and incorporate technical interpretation from Implementation Guidance (IG) updates, phone calls with validation authorities, report comments, and other venues related to CSTL services into training materials and internal Wiki, and communicates these updates with the team as needed Perform technical training for new staff Participate in laboratory outreach activities Participate in technical communities of interest related to CSTL activities Coordinate cross organization outreach Update technical forms currently listed under management system and coordinate updates with the quality manager Review comments received from CMVP across all projects for common themes and incorporate updates to Wiki or training as needed Oversee development of ACVP testing harnesses Represents the CSTL in CMVP technical meetings and workshops Help teams resolve technical issues that arise in the course of validation You Will Bring These
Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of FIPS 140 requirements CVP certified Knowledge of cryptographic encryption algorithms, key exchange algorithms, hashing/message authentication algorithms, PKI, random number generators, etc.
Experience with various programming languages (C, C++, Python or Java) and development environments Ability to comprehend security standard requirements and apply them to products Knowledge of common security related protocols and their design (i.
e.
SSH, IPsec, TLS, etc.
) Experience building testing environments, performing testing and reporting results (technical writing) Strong problem solving skills Strong multitasking and time management These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience with VHDL and Verilog languages Experience with debugging (GDB, WinDBG, Visual Studio, etc.
) Experience with statistical analysis of entropy sources Vulnerability Analysis and/or penetration testing experience/expertise Strong knowledge of computer security principles and best practices.
Strong English (both oral and written) skills Related certifications (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP/JNCIE) Knowledge of Active Directory and Linux Hands on experience using tools such as an oscilloscope, function generator, multimeter, signal generator, etc.
Knowledge of X.
509 certificates and their attributes as well as protocols such as CDP and OCSP Experience setting up networks and familiarity with subnets and routing Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.
00 - $150,000.
00 - $202,500.

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
