Summary:
OR Assistant I is under the direct supervision of the OR Charge Nurse, assists with transporting patients for surgery, stocking and preparing the OR Rooms with surgical supplies and equipment, organizing storage areas, maintaining supply levels and pulling supplies for upcoming surgical cases.
Assists the charge nurse with other duties necessary to organize the workflow in the Operating Room, as assigned.
Provides transportation assistance as needed for Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
MAJOR JOB
Responsibilities:
1.
Employee demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit as indicated by the following:
? Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
? Identifies the physical, motor, sensory, cognitive and psychosocial characteristics for age group(s) served.
? Demonstrates age appropriate communication skills.
? Demonstrates ability to provide the care needed as described in the job description and the department's scope of service for the patient groups under his/her care.
Age group(s) served will be one or more of the following:
Infant (Birth to 12 months), Child (13 months to 12 years), Adolescent (13 years to 17 years), Adult (18 years to 69 years) or Geriatric (70 years and older).

Appreciates the requirements of the Operating Room environment and has knowledge of the priorities of surgery.
This includes the necessity to have thorough understanding of supplies, equipment and stock medications (for replenishing), and to be able to apply this knowledge to the clinical requirements of each case.
3.
Reviews the OR schedule and evaluates the surgical needs for the posted surgeries in order to have necessary equipment and supplies available.
Continuously monitors the schedule for changes that will effect equipment and supply requirements.
4.
Transports patients for surgery to maximize patient comfort, privacy and safety.
5.
Calls nursing units to inform them of time patient will be picked up for surgery when the PCA is not available to do so.
6.
Assures patient is comfortable and O2 is attached when necessary, when transporting a patient to the PACU holding area.
7.
Maintains an adequate, continuous inventory of stock supplies via communications with the OR Charge Nurse/Clinical Program Managers.
8.
Under the direct supervision of the OR Charge Nurse prepares and distributes surgical supplies, assists with evaluations of supplies/equipment and provides follow through to the OR Clinical Program Manager.
9.
Cleans and restocks the OR carts and equipment between cases.
10.
Maintains a clean and well-organized environment in all OR areas (OR rooms and the Central Hub).
11.
Cares for equipment and reports any malfunctioning or broken equipment to the OR Charge Nurse or OR/PACU Clinical Program Managers.
12.
When the OR PCA is not at the desk, will route calls as needed, page personnel as needed and takes messages if appropriate.
Will also take information for add-on cases, relay this to the charge nurse, and respond to the surgeon as needed.
13.
Has access to clean supply areas including, but not limited to IV solutions, needles, syringes for the purpose of obtaining and restocking linen and / or supplies.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
