Materials Supervisor

Our client has an opportunity as a Materials Management Supervisor to oversee their manufacturing storeroom location in Columbia, MD.
They are responsible for the development and execution of receiving and warehouse processes and are accountable for the accuracy of the inventory tracking system.
They must work inter-departmentally to maximize efficiency and maintain organization goals and deadlines.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Manage all receiving and warehouse activities for our client located in Columbia, MD, location Supervise, instruct, and evaluate 10-15 storeroom personnel (direct reports) Coordinate work to meet program schedules Inventory all parts into the ERP system before issuing them to Manufacturing Orders (MO) supporting production areas Confirm that all materials that were consumed in the appropriate Manufacturing Order process are accurately reflected on the Manufacturing Order and accounted for accurately.
Responsible for receiving, warehouse management, parts kitting, material disposition, shipping Responsible for coordinating all inventory counts, identifying variances, and rectifying standards to ensure the flow of those materials meets delivery and operational goals Develop and maintain up-to-date process documentation (e.
g.
, desktop procedures, SOPs) Train, enforce, and measure material processes related to receiving and warehousing activities.
Provide strategic leadership for effective management of materials/storeroom-related activities such as ordering and budgeting, as well as suggesting changes to storage and retrieval processes to maximize the use of company resources.
Coordinate with other departments to maintain synergy and schedule Accountable for material records and accuracy of the internal inventory system(s) Direct and coordinate warehouse facilities management, such as layout, equipment, tooling, or safety Ensure storeroom facilities comply with local, state, and federal regulation Ensure and maintain a safe working environment and practice safe working habits Determine department goals, measure performance, and develop meaningful metrics / KPIs for management reporting.
Determine and manage department budget for assigned area Basic Qualifications (Required):
Bachelors Degree from an accredited university in a related field or equivalent amount of Education and Experience.
At least ten years experience in a logistics environment, preferably supporting a DoD manufacturing environment At least five years of experience in a storeroom leadership role supporting a manufacturing environment Extensive experience with ERP system material control.
(Ex.
SAP, Costpoint) Must be able to quickly become an expert in all storeroom transactions and how they impact the ERP system Must be process-oriented Proficient with Microsoft Excel Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills Flexibility to travel as needed.

Qualifications:
Experience working within DoD FAR 52.
245-1 guidelines.
Previous employment with a DoD contractor Experience with Deltek Costpoint and Cognos reporting Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance (Secret) Recommended Skills Communication Coordinating Enterprise Resource Planning Facility Management Financial Management Leadership Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
