The Process Engineer position supports sales and execution of GEA process systems, specifically evaporation, crystallization, and/or drying technologies.
The Process Engineer reports directly to the Chemical department Engineering Manager.
Additionally, as GEA is a matrix organization, the Process Engineer will report indirectly to Project Managers when assigned to project execution activities.
Your responsibilities and tasks:
Sales Activities:
Development of process flow diagram (PFD) and heat and mass balance Coordinate with European Centers of Competence within GEA when needed Recommend and support laboratory and/or pilot tests Specification of process equipment including size and materials of construction Engage and evaluate third party suppliers proposals and equipment selections (pumps, fans, motors, etc.
) General guidance for mechanical designers on general arrangement drawings Support proposal development, generally review and comment but occasionally as an author Ensure technical compliance with customer specifications Responsible for GEA process system performance warranties Complete plant audits to support new opportunities Visit and meet with customers, usually in support of GEA regional sales managers Build and maintain relationships with GEA customers, promote GEA within your network Project Execution Activities:
Confirmation and revision of sales activities above, as needed Create the piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) and maintain throughout the project lifecycle Create, review, and/or approve various lists (equipment, connection point, utilities, valves, instruments) Write parts of the control system functional description and the O&M manual.
Approver of general arrangement plot plan and elevation view drawings Subject matter expert for all things related to the process, eg support project manager in procurement Contribute during internal GEA meetings as well as external customer meetings Support safety related evaluations such as Hazop meetings Startup/Commissioning of GEA plants generally each process engineer starts up their own plants Training customer process and operations personnel on GEA process systems Ongoing customer troubleshooting support Your profile and

BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 3 years minimum experience Hands-on chemical industry process engineering experience is a plus Proficient in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics The ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings Willing and able to travel (approximately 20 - 30 % of the time) Detail oriented Excellent English language communication skills, verbal and written Effective interpersonal skills and work well in a team setting as well as independently Self-motivated Strong knowledge of MS Office products Reference number JR-0012215 Job function Sales Position type Full time Site Columbia 9165 Rumsey Road, COLumbia, MD 21045.
