GEA Systems North America is looking for a Product Manager to join the Sales Support and Process Engineering team in Columbia, Maryland.
The successful candidate will be responsible for GEA Dryer Engineering and Equipment proposals for the Chemical Industry.
GEA s Drying Technology includes spray dryers, flash dryers, ring dryers, rotary dryers, fluid beds, and cooling systems using the same core processes.
While the position will focus on Drying Technology, there will be opportunities to learn and assist in other technology areas (eg Evaporation and Crystallization) and departments.
Your responsibilities and tasks:
Prepare proposals for GEA equipment and process solutions, to include process details, equipment specifications, commercial details, and pricing.
Technical and commercial writing for proposals based on own knowledge and contributions from other staff, using excellent spelling and grammar.
Gather and estimate equipment and component costs to establish the selling price for GEA equipment.
Interface with workshop staff to estimate the cost of GEA manufactured components.
Build and maintain relationships with component vendors, other OEMs, and EPCs to support estimating activities, to include requesting quotes, reviewing for technical/commercial compliance, and ensuring compliance with customer specifications as necessary.
Prepare and present cost calculations to management for complete process systems including engineering, equipment supply, and occasionally erection.
Manage the delivery of supporting proposal documentation, including sales flow diagrams, GA s, technical datasheets, and follow up inquiries.
Manage multiple client opportunities simultaneously, usually 2-5 at a time, and meet deadlines.
Represent the technical team in client meetings, alongside a regional sales manager.
Coordinate among regional sales managers, process engineers, CAD designers, the projects team, and European specialists to propose the best solutions using GEA technology.
Review client documentation for compliance with RFQs/RFPs, take exception and/or clarify when needed.
Support the development of new engineers and junior staff as required.
Approve peer work quality before submittal to management for final approvals.
Organize and maintain documentation in a structured way according to department guidelines.
Follow all GEA procedures.
Annual Travel is usually 5-10%, up to 20% is possible.

Your profile and
Qualifications:
BS or higher degree in Chemical Engineering preferred.
Mechanical Engineering or other similar degree may be considered if Chemical knowledge and/or experience is acceptable.
Experience in Drying technology preferable, either equipment design or process engineering is a plus.
Not an entry level position.
Engineers with experience from comparable industrial processes may be considered.
Ability to read and understand PFDs, P&IDs, GAs, mechanical equipment drawings, and other project documentation.
Practical equipment cost estimating experience is a plus Excellent English communication skills, both in written and verbal forms.
Attention to detail is required as these proposals evolve into customer contracts.
Efficient at finding information and making decisions using best information available.
