Job Description

We are hiring a Co-op to work in our Internal Audit department located at our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD who will report to the Senior Manager, Internal Audit.
As a Co-op, you will have the opportunity to receive valuable work experience that will allow you to better define career and personal aspirations and will challenge you to find creative solutions to real life business problems.
The Co-op assignment will run from August to December.
You must be able to work full-time (40/hr.
/week) and be able to travel to various Grace sites 1-2 days at a time, periodically throughout the month.

By participating in this program, you will gain exposure to external and internal audits and risk management, gain SOX control testing, perform walk throughs and complete substantive and operational testing.
This is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience for the Auditing industry by working alongside experts within the field of catalysts, business operations and materials.

Housing and Transportation will not be provided.
You will be paid hourly, and you must be able to commit to the entire duration of the Co-op (August December).

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the way we conduct inventory counts and various internal audit and Sarbanes-Oxley projects.
  • Support our direct assistance activities for our external auditor.
  • Assist Finance and Accounting with various projects related to global tax matters, quarterly accounting and financial reporting.
    The split would be approximately 70% IA / 30% Finance and Accounting.
  • Travel to various manufacturing locations and participate in inventory counts then complete workpapers required by audits.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel, but no advanced skills necessary.
  • A good foundational knowledge of accounting and GAAP.
    Students with finance or accounting interests are best suited for this position.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel.
    Some work could be required at our plants on the East Coast so ability to travel (barring any COVID restrictions that may be in place) is important.
    Again, this internship is scheduled for August through December.
  • A basic understanding of internal controls related to SOX (Sarbanes Oxley Act) is good to have but not required.
  • Flexible Schedule.
    The inventory assignments sometimes require 2 days of consecutive 8 hour effort off site.
    In these cases there can be 2 half days due to travel and one full day of controls testing on site.
  • Some understanding of Information Technology Controls is useful but not required.

Required Experience

  • Rising Senior in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Communications
  • Open to new experiences
  • Ability to work with limited oversight
  • Has an interest in audit, finance or accounting functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work experience in accounting and/or auditing
  • CPA candidate ideal but not required

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
