Capital Projects Estimator
Job DescriptionWe're hiring a Capital Projects Estimator who will report to the Capital Planning and Engineering Manager, who is based in Columbia, MD.
The ideal candidate will work from our Columbia, MD office with the option of a hybrid work model that includes working from home and office 2-3 days a week.
Other work locations that may be considered include other Grace sites, Lake Charles or Baton Rouge, LA or Pasadena, TX with the hybrid option as well.
Responsibilities include:
Develop cost estimates over various phases of a project in its life cycle, using ICARUS or other industry-leading toolsPrepare standard WBS estimates and assumptions with documentation of confidence factors ranging from Project Initiation stage to construction phases of projectReview the estimates from the contractors and third-party engineering partners for accuracy and adequacyDevelop basis of estimate deliverable for capital projectsDevelop a basis of scope for bidding and estimating purposesPrepare and provide estimating services which include conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction level estimates for projectsReview and evaluate Accuracy of detailed takeA cents EUR off construction estimates for all disciplines (Piping, Civil, Structural, Electrical & Instrumentation etc.
) using the appropriate Construction Estimating methods and toolsVerify contractor unit rates and manhours estimatesAssist in PFI process, bid evaluations and other procurement activities, as neededProvide Project Cost and Schedule development and tracking support to projects, as neededServes as Estimating SME for all Grace ProjectsFungible resource supporting all aspects of project controls (estimating, cost tracking and scheduling) as neededMust be able to travel up to 25% to include international (when traveling globally, the length of travel would be longer, otherwise domestic travel is short stays)Required ExperienceDemonstrated expertise in developing stage estimates for various project life cycles using ICARUS or another industry toolProficient in all aspects of Project Controls Best Practices, to include Planning, Scheduling, Estimating Cost tracking & controlling, Contract Administration and Performance ReportingEffective stakeholder engagement with various levels within the companyRequired Skills7 to 12 years' experience in developing estimates for projects of various size, $1M - $100M (typical project size is $5M - $50M) in Chemical; Catalysts or Specialty product industriesPreferred QualificationsB.
