Laboratory Technician Specialist
Job Description Grace is hiring a Laboratory Technician Specialist reporting to the lab Chemist / Engineer at our Columbia, MD R&D facility! This position supports laboratory work for polyolefin catalyst development.
This is a 40-hour week schedule with 10 hour days including possible night and weekend overtime coverage.
Foster a safety-centric culture, fully engaging in all aspects of corporate and work group specific safety initiatives Under the direction of an R&D chemist, synthesize lab-scale polyolefin catalyst samples and perform basic chemical and physical catalyst characterization Support polymerization evaluations and perform basic polymer characterization on the materials generated during polymerization testing.
Maintain and troubleshoot issues with lab-scale synthesis and polymerization reactors, gloveboxes, purification systems and downstream analysis equipment.
Compile, document, and manage data from experiments, generating concise and accurate data packages for the scientist in charge of the projects that the position supports Perform laboratory housekeeping and procurement duties Required Skills Analytical instrumentation Ability to work as a team with chemist and technician co-workers Proficiency in office-based computer software (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.
) Effective interpersonal communication skills Required Experience BS in Chemistry or related science field, or equivalent industrial experience Preferred Qualifications Background in air-sensitive chemical manipulation preferred Experience with reactive materials is considered a plus #WRGRACE Grace is not accepting unsolicited assistance from search firms for this employment opportunity.
